Parag Agrawal, Son of Mumbai who is Now Twitter CEO Succeeding Jack Dorsey

Parag Agrawal will replace Jack Dorsey as Twitter's CEO after announcing his resignation. Who is the figure who previously served as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Twitter?

Agrawal is a lesser known figure. But he is not a new person on Twitter, he has been working for a decade in a social media company with the blue bird icon.

Joined in October 2011, Agrawal handles advertising products. His career was so brilliant, that in October 2017 he was appointed CTO of Twitter.

Agrawal is a graduate of Cumputer Science and Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai, India. He then moved to the United States to pursue a PhD in philosophy and computer science at Stanford University in 2005 - 2012.

In 2006, the 37 -year -old joined Microsoft for a brief four -month study. He is also noted to have filled research positions at Yahoo and AT&T.

It was only in 2011 that Agrawal appeared on Twitter, just a few months after Dorsey returned as CEO after being removed from the position in 2008. For the past 10 years, his actions have not been in vain.

Early in his career, he worked on projects related to increasing the relevance of user tweets on timelines and audience growth. He held the title of 'Leading Engineer' because he made a breakthrough that had an impact on audience growth.

As CTO, Agrawal focused on scaling machine learning and applying AI to detect bot accounts and label potentially harmful content.

But the big project is Bluesky. This is a Twitter -funded project that aims to create a decentralized social media standard.

Agrawal's own involvement in the project began in 2019. Unfortunately, information about Bluesky is still scarce.

Apart from that, thanks to Agrawal's cold hands, Twitter can solve a variety of problems, from cropping on photo previews to password bugs in 2018. The most important thing is moderation.

In an interview with the MIT Technology Review, Agrawal emphasized the role of Twitter is to build a healthy place to chat online, even though it may sacrifice people to say whatever they want.

"Our role is not bound by the First Amendment, but our role is to serve healthy public discourse," he said.

And this moderation effort will also be Agrawal's challenge as Twitter's CEO. This was already visible as soon as he was announced, direct criticism was leveled at him, one of them from the Republican Party.
