Spotify Removes Car View Feature

In 2019 Spotify launched Car View mode on its Android platform app, which changes the interface to make it easier for drivers to control music in the car.

But now Spotify has announced that it will remove the Car View feature in its app. This announcement was made directly through the Spotify community forum.

"We can confirm that we will be discontinuing the Car View feature. But this doesn't mean we don't want to improve the way users listen to Spotify while driving," Spotify said in the forum.

"Instead, we are actively looking for new ways to provide the best music listening experience in the car."

The Forum also said that Spotify is working on new features to improve the in-car music listening experience.

Some users have suggested Spotify to use Google Assistant or Siri instead of the Car View feature.

The virtual assistant is reliable but its operation is not as easy as tapping the screen. This is because the assistant can be influenced by other sounds such as music at a loud volume or the noise of passengers in the car.

If the car stereo dashboard supports Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, then Spotify can be accessed directly on the screen. It's a shame some old cars don't have that support.

The disabling of Car View has disappointed many users. But besides Spotify, there's also Google, which recently removed the Android Auto app for phones with a simple interface for those who don't have a car dashboard compatible with Android Auto. Instead, users are directed to use Google Assistant.
