Twitter Desktop Support Full Image View

Earlier this year Twitter on iOS and Android fully supported the display of images in the timeline. Now, Twitter for websites/desktops already supports this feature. So, users who are exploring the timeline or users who will upload tweets in the form of photos can be seen in full.

Previously, photos/images uploaded by users on Twitter would be automatically cropped (auto-cropped) with a 16:9 format.

Twitter's auto-crop feature has also been complained of by many users because to view the image in full they have to click first and often the cropped displayed does not match.

The changes made by Twitter are actually the aftermath of the auto-crop feature controversy last year. Where a number of Twitter users found after a viral tweet that showed that Twitter's photo cropping algorithm consistently chose white people over dark.

Other users have also tried out the feature with their own versions, including trying it with pictures of cartoon characters and even black and white dogs.

Responding to this, Twitter said that they had carried out their own investigation and testing.

"Our analysis to date has not shown any racial or gender bias although we recognize that the way we auto-crop photos means there is potential for harm," Twitter said.
