Instinctive to Mars, Elon Musk Predicts Earth Will Be 'Hell'

Elon Musk with his company SpaceX, has ambitions to build a human colony on Mars. He has cited the reasons several times, the most recent being that the Earth will become too hot.

According to the man who also led Tesla, humans will land on Mars at the latest in 10 years. "Best scenario is about 5 years, worst is 10 years," he said in a podcast interview.

The world's richest man said SpaceX is intensively developing a Starship rocket that will take humans to Mars. In addition to complex machines, their costs are also considered.

"Starship is the most advanced and most complex rocket ever made. The optimization is to minimize the cost per tonne to orbit and land on the surface of Mars," he said.

"At the moment, you can't fly to Mars for even 1 trillion dollars, you can't get a ticket to Mars at any cost. So we have to fly it," added Elon Musk.

Quoted from the Independent, Thursday (12/30/2021) humans should go to Mars because the Earth will become too hot for living things in about 500 million years. Even though it took so long, he emphasized that preparations must be made as soon as possible.

"Earth has been around for about 4.5 billion years and this is the first time that it is possible to develop extraterrestrial life. The buoy may be open for a long time, but it could also be short. I think it would be wise for us to act quickly while we are still alive. an open window of opportunity," he explained again.

In a previous podcast interview with the New York Times, Musk stated that extinctions are common on the planet. "I'm not trying to be gloomy here, but the fossil record shows there have been many extinction events over thousands of years," said the South African-born man.

"And all of those (extinctions) were from meteors, supervolcanoes or due to natural variations in climate, which get very severe, but at a slow rate for us. And then eventually, the Sun will expand and swallow the Earth," warns Elon Musk. .
