New iOS Feature Notifies Users If iPhone Components Are Fake

One of the advantages of repairing smartphone devices at the official service shop of the brand is the authenticity of components and spare parts. However, because it is expensive, usually users will carry out repairs in unauthorized places at a more affordable cost.

However, it is possible that the components used are not original. Even if they claim it is the original product, but most users can't tell the difference.

That's why Apple released a new feature in iOS that allows users to know about it.

Reporting us from Ubergizmo, Apple will add a "Parts and Service History" section in the Settings app.

By going into this setting, the user can see a list of the components that may have been exchanged and replaced during the repair and it will show whether they are genuine or not.

For example, if a non-genuine part is used then it will list it as “Unknown Part”, but keep in mind that this status can also apply to parts taken from another iPhone or not working which could be a sign that you may need to fix it.

If it's a genuine part, it will say "Genuine Apple Parts" and you can tap it to see more details about it, including service date.

This can be a useful feature because it means that if a third-party repair shop claims to use genuine parts, it will let users know if they lied about it. It can also be used even if the user sends the phone to Apple for repair and just wants to make sure.

Apple is expected to launch a self-repair program soon where users will have access to certain components and manuals that they can use to repair their own devices.
