Activision Acquisition, Microsoft Wants to Make Metaverse Compete with Zuckerberg

 


Microsoft is increasingly strengthening its steps in building the metaverse. This they revealed, through the announcement of its acquisition of the famous game company, Activision Blizzard.

To strengthen its position in the Metaverse, they have also launched a new technology called Microsoft Mesh. This feature is able to incorporate realistic capabilities that allow people in different locations, to join the holographic experience. Its capabilities can be enjoyed through Teams, where people can join virtual meetings, have a conversation and share documents with each other.


Meanwhile, Microsoft reportedly agreed to acquire Activision Blizzard for a fantastic value. The amount is even greater than the transaction Take-Two Interactive made to Zynga.


If the figure released by the parent company of Rockstar Games reaches USD 12.7 billion or around Rp. 181 trillion, then it is different from Microsoft. The technology giant, based in Redmond, United States (US), agreed to meet a dowry of up to USD 69 billion or around Rp. 1,000 trillion.


This is the largest acquisition in history. Including placing Microsoft, as the third largest gaming company in the world after Tencent and Sony, as well as strengthening the metaverse foundation that it has proclaimed.


"Once the acquisition is complete, we will be offering as many Activision Blizzard games as possible on Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass, both new titles and games from Activision Blizzard's incredible catalog," said Microsoft Games CEO Phil Spencer.
