Comparison of Samsung Galaxy S21 FE Vs S20 FE, Need an Upgrade?

The Galaxy S21 FE is the successor to the Galaxy S20 FE with a number of improvements, but is it necessary to upgrade? Here's a comparison of the two phones for consideration:

Design

If you are captivated by the display of the Galaxy S21, then upgrading to the Galaxy S21 FE is worth considering. Because the camera module carries a contour-cut, this is different from the Galaxy S20 FE which is made flush with the back.

Galaxy S21 FE also looks trendy with colorful bodies, namely Purple, White, Graphite and Olive. However, these options are not as many as the Galaxy S20 FE which has a choice of Cloud Lavender, Cloud Mint, Cloud Navy, Cloud White, Cloud Red and Cloud Orange.

The dimensions of the Galaxy S21 FE are more compact than its predecessor. It measures 155.7 x 74.5 x 7.9 mm and weighs 177 grams. While the Galaxy S20 FE has dimensions of 159.8 x 74.5 x 8.4 mm and weighs 190 grams.

Both do not have a 3.5 mm audio jack and are IP68 certified. Both the Galaxy S21 FE and S20 FE feature an on-screen fingerprint, two stereo speakers and NFC.

Screen

Samsung made improvements to the screen of the Galaxy S21 FE. Even though the size is reduced to 6.4 inches, the panel used is Dynamic AMOLED 2X with Full HD + resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate and supports HDR10 + so that the color presentation will be more beautiful.

While the Galaxy S20 FE measures 6.5 inches with Full HD + resolution, supports a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10 +.

Interestingly, the Galaxy S21 FE does not carry a 20:9 ratio like its predecessor. Samsung made it 19.5:9 giving a different screen display.

The more it provides an immersive experience, the bezel around the screen is made so thin from the S20 FE. Here's the comparison.

Top Side Bottom Bezel

Galaxy S21 FE 1.64mm 1.64mm 3.16mm

Galaxy S20 FE 1.91mm 2.63mm 3.81mm

In terms of durability, the Galaxy S21 FE is equipped with Gorilla Glass Victus. While the Galaxy S210 FE is still Gorilla Glass 3.

Processor

Samsung has capitalized on the Galaxy S21 FE with the Exynos 2100 chipset and 8 GB of RAM. With 5 nm fabrication, it is claimed to deliver 25% better CPU performance than the Exynos 990 and 6/8 GB of RAM embedded in the Galaxy S20 FE.

The GPU used by the Galaxy S21 FE is the Mali-G78 MP14. Samsung says its performance is 35% of the Galaxy S20 FE which uses the Mali-G77 MP11 GPU.

Camera

The Samsung Galaxy S21 FE seems to still use the same camera as the Galaxy S20. The composition is as follows:

12 MP, f/1.8, 26mm (wide), 1/1.76", 1.8µm, Dual Pixel PDAF, OIS

12 MP, f/2.2, 13mm, 123˚ (ultrawide),

8 MP, f/2.4, 76mm (telephoto), 1/4.5", 1.0µm, PDAF, OIS, 3x optical zoom

32 MP, f/2.2, 26mm (wide), 1/2.74", 0.8µm (front camera).

However, Samsung provides a number of interesting camera features in the Galaxy S21 FE.

There is Dual Recording which will be cool for making vlogs and Object Reaser to remove objects in photos without the need to install third-party applications.

Battery

The Galaxy S21 FE and S20 FE batteries are the same, the capacity is 4,500 mAh. Samsung also still provides 25W fast charging, 15W wireless charging and 4.5W reverse wireless charging.

Connection

The connection features of the Galaxy S21 FE are superior to their predecessors. Samsung provides support for WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, 4G LTE and 5G.

While the Galaxy S20 FE is only equipped with support for WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.0 and 4G LTE.

Conclusion

With the updates and upgrades that Samsung has to offer, it seems necessary to consider upgrading the Galaxy S21 FE. But the determining factor is of course the price.

Samsung has not announced the price of the Galaxy S21 FE in the country. Even if the price is the same, this phone can still be considered.
