Portrait is a mainstay feature of Oppo's HP in 2022

For the last two years Oppo has prioritized portrait capabilities in its mid-range lineup, and that will continue this year. Portait will still be a mainstay feature in HP Oppo 2022.

"After the Selfie Expert jargon which became the strongest brand identity in 2016 to 2019, Oppo focused on the overall quality of its camera devices. Through the Reno series line, Oppo seeks to present superior features that continue to be developed based on artificial intelligence, especially portraits.

The longer the portrait capability on the smartphone, the more users will like it and will become a favorite feature on smartphones in 2022.

He further explained that the portrait capability on mobile devices is increasing thanks to the incorporation of three important elements. There are graphics processing processors, camera sensors, and artificial intelligence development through software.

Graphics processing processor based on artificial intelligence is one of the factors for developing portrait capabilities on mobile phones. Known as the Neural Processing Unit (NPU), this processor will provide the ability to process images with artificial intelligence so as to display better results.

In this matter, Oppo has managed to independently develop this processor which was also launched at the end of last year under the name MariSiliconX.

While the use of the best camera sensors available in the market will really help produce high-quality portrait photos. As in the upcoming Oppo device equipped with the Sony IMX 709 sensor, which is the fruit of a joint development collaboration between Oppo and Sony.

The two companies developed this sensor for 3 (three) years, involving 300 engineers involved, 87 patents were generated and the investment value was more than USD 1.5 million. This co-developed sensor has the advantage of 60% increased light sensitivity and a significant 35% noise reduction when compared to the sensors found on the Oppo Reno6 device.

IMX 709 is a sensor that has high sensitivity to low light environments. Of course, as a premium class sensor, Oppo has also placed a new RGBW sensor so that it can produce clearer and more natural portrait photos.

The last and no less important point is the existence of software that is continuously being developed to obtain an artificial intelligence (AI) system. This system can read every situation when capturing portrait photos and produce the best photos as available and integrated in the ColorOS 12 operating system.

In addition to preparing devices with 5G network technology, portrait is a superior feature that will be embedded in Oppo devices this year, not only for the front camera but also for the rear camera.
