WhatsApp Prepares Chat Transfer Feature from Android to iPhone

Last year WhatsApp released a feature that allows users to transfer chat history from iPhone to Android. Unfortunately, this Meta messenger application has not announced the opposite feature that allows chat transfer from Android to iPhone.

Now the long-awaited feature seems to be rolling out in the near future. WABetaInfo tipster just found a reference about the WhatsApp chat transfer feature from Android to iPhone.

The feature was found in the WhatsApp beta for iOS version 22.2.74. This feature is currently under development so it is not yet available for beta testers.

WABetaInfo also uploaded a screenshot of the feature which provides a bit of information. From the screenshot, it can be seen that WhatsApp will ask the user's permission first before starting the chat transfer process.

This screenshot also contains a sentence indicating that WhatsApp only allows users to transfer chats during the first setup on the iPhone. This means that users cannot use WhatsApp on iPhone and then some time after that they decide to move chats from Android.

Before moving WhatsApp chats from Android to iPhone, users must also download the Move to iOS application first. This method is the same as the process of moving chat from an iPhone to a Samsung Android phone that requires the SmartSwitch application, as quoted from WABetaInfo, Saturday (22/1/2022).

Apart from Samsung phones, the WhatsApp chat transfer feature from iPhone is also available for Google Pixel and will be available for new phones running Android 12 operating system.

It is not yet known what operating systems will support the WhatsApp chat transfer feature from Android to iPhone. When this feature will start beta testing and then be rolled out to all users is also still a question mark.
