Twitter Users Can Install NFT As Profile Photo

Since the NFT fever, many Twitter users have posted their digital assets as profile photos. Now Twitter brings a feature that allows users to install NFT as a complete profile photo with proof of ownership.

This feature is only available to users who subscribe to the Twitter Blue service on iOS and will be coming soon to Android and the web. Twitter Blue itself is only available in four countries and the subscription fee is USD 2.99 per month.

"This new feature provides a seamless and user-friendly way for people on Twitter to verify their NFT holdings by enabling them to directly connect their crypto wallet to Twitter and select an NFT from their collection as a new profile photo," Twitter said in a statement. officially, as quoted from Mashable, Friday (21/1/2022).

With this new feature, NFT profile photos that have verified ownership will be displayed in a hexagon shape, not round like a regular profile photo.

Other users can also click on the profile photo to see information related to the displayed NFT, such as creator, owner, description, and other details.

Currently the NFT supported by Twitter is limited to assets minted on the Ethereum blockchain. "We're currently focusing on Ethereum as our initial iteration to get it going well before moving to another chain," said a Twitter spokesperson.

Twitter users who wish to set NFT as their profile photo must also link their Twitter account with one of the six supported crypto wallets namely Coinbase Wallet, Rainbow, MetaMask, Trust, Argent, or Ledger Live.

NFT owners are now free to post their collection assets as Twitter profile photos. However, with this feature, they can show that the NFT is really theirs because at this time there is also a trend to 'right-click and save' other people's NFTs to be used as profile photos.

Currently the Twitter feature is still under development and is part of the 'Labs' feature which is still in its early stages. It is not yet known when this feature will be rolled out to all Twitter Blue subscribers.
