Elon Musk confirmed that Starlink's satellite internet network is now available in Ukraine, whose internet network was heavily disrupted after the Russian invasion.
Musk has also confirmed that he will send more terminals (devices to access Starlink) to Ukraine.
"Starlink service is now active in Ukraine. More terminals are on the way," Musk tweeted.
This tweet is Musk's reply to a tweet by the Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov who poked Musk on Twitter.
"@elonmusk, when you try to colonize Mars, Russia tries to occupy Ukraine! When your rocket successfully lands from space - Russian rockets attack Ukrainian civilians," Fedorov tweeted.
So far, internet services in Ukraine have been quite impacted by the Russian invasion, especially in the southern and eastern parts of Ukraine, the areas that have been hit the most by Russian military operations.
You could say, even though it is very expensive, satellite internet technology like the one sold by Starlink is a very appropriate solution to overcome communication problems in Ukraine today. Because this technology can reach remote areas without the need to pull fiber optic cables.
As of January 15, SpaceX claims to have 1,469 active Starlink satellites and 272 other satellites awaiting entry into orbit.
Although useful, this Starlink satellite received a lot of criticism. One of them is NASA which recently also issued a warning to SpaceX.
NASA warns that the constellation of SpaceX's many satellites could endanger the lives of astronauts and even threaten humans on Planet Earth.
In its report, NASA called the planned launch of up to 3,000 Starlink satellites a big risk. For example, the potential for a collision with a manned space mission, the delay of a launch due to the path taken by Starlink to obstruct dangerous asteroid monitoring telescopes.
