Loaded with technology, the price of MotoGP motorbikes makes you shake your head

Motor racing that is launched in the MotoGP event is indeed powerful and equipped with a variety of high technology. So don't be surprised if the price of a MotoGP motorbike for one unit is not kidding.

Yamaha ZYR-MI, Honda RC213V, GP Ducati Desmosedici, to Suzuki GSX-RR are some of the types of MotoGP racing motorbikes that are currently paving, including yesterday during pre-season testing at the Mandalika circuit.

Quoted from Sports Keeda, the price of a MotoGP motorbike is estimated to be between USD 3 million to USD 3.5 million, not including research costs. The high price was due, among other things, to the fact that the motorbike was specially produced for very competitive racing and was specific for each rider.

"MotoGP motorcycles are customized. These motorcycles are made and then modified according to existing regulations or budgets. Most of them are handmade," said Sports Keeda.

In some cases, the engine can be upgraded according to the circuit. This powerful and high-tech engine is what stands out from motor racing in MotoGP. No wonder the cost of making a MotoGP motorcycle engine can reach USD 350 thousand.

Then the components in MotoGP, although some come from other parties such as suspension, some components are made specifically and adapted to the rider. This is what makes the costs even more soaring, especially since the special components usually don't last long.

"Expensive materials such as titanium, magnesium and carbon fiber are used for the production of MotoGP bikes. The tires are also made softer and more adherent. The tire life is also short, made specifically to win races and prevent accidents even at maximum speed," explained Sports Keeda.

Not to mention the various other advanced technologies that are embedded. Motorcycles in MotoGP have about 30 to 40 sensors to collect data such as suspension conditions, brakes, steering angles, to temperature. When you finish a practice or a race, the data is downloaded for later analysis.

It is estimated that the complex electronic devices in a MotoGP bike such as sensors, cables, panels can cost more than 100,000 euros alone.

The cost of up to tens of billions, as mentioned, also does not include the research and development process by the manufacturer which is certainly not small. So do not be surprised if MotoGP is currently the most prestigious motorcycle race in the world.
