Simon Leviev's 'Tinder Swindler' has been officially banned on the online dating platform. Simon Leviev's name grew in popularity after the Netflix documentary premiered on February 2, 2022.
'Tinder Swindler' managed to attract the attention of many people. The owner of the real name Shimon Hayut is said to have deceived many women to reach USD 10 million. Simon Leviev claimed to be the son of the 'King of Diamond' which was finally denied, just a hoax.
In this Netflix documentary, Cecilie Fjellhøy, Pernilla Sjoholm, and Ayleen Charlotte are three people who dare to tell their story of being tricked by Simon Leviev. They become 'girlfriends' or 'friends' so that they are more confident to spend a lot of money to lend it to Simon Leviev.
The 'Tinder Swindler' was imprisoned until finally released in a matter of months. Hayut revealed he was back on Tinder, but the company denied that Hayut's profile was still active in a press statement.
"We banned Simon Leviev and all of his known aliases as soon as the story of his actions was published in 2019," a Tinder spokesperson said, as reported by NBC News.
"Prior to the release of the documentary, we conducted additional internal investigations and can confirm that Simon Leviev is not active on Tinder under his known alias," Tinder continued, citing Yahoo! News.
Hayut is also banned from dating sites and apps under Match Group Inc., such as Match.com, Plenty of Fish, and OkCupid. Hayut reportedly chose to deactivate his Instagram account after the documentary was released.
As additional information, Hayut does not appear in the Netflix film, but the voicemail the filmmaker says he sent them is included. Hayut also had time to write a statement on Instagram.
"I will share my side of the story in the next few days when I have sorted out the best and most honorable way to tell it, both to the parties involved and myself. Until then, please keep an open mind and heart," said Hayut.
