In various science fiction films, depicted aliens usually come to attack or enslave humans. However, this academic has a different opinion, it could be the opposite, aliens who are afraid of humans. Why is that?
Dr. Gordon Gallup, a biologist from the University of Albany, argues that humans are dangerous, violent and often engage in bloody wars. This reason might make aliens reluctant to come to Earth even though they have the technology. They don't want to be victims.
"If aliens existed, they might have found us by now and know that humans are dangerous, violent and continue to develop weapons of mass destruction to become even more vicious," he wrote in the Journal of Astrobiology.
"It is also clear that with increasing pollution, habitat destruction, combined with relentless war, looting, death, and a desire to conquer, humans carry unparalleled risk not only to other life on Earth but also from other planets," he added.
Indeed, in world history, there have been many conquests and mass killings by humans. The Aztec and Inca civilizations, for example, disappeared because of it.
"If humans on Earth realized there were advanced civilizations and interesting resources on other worlds, might it not be that the alien population ended up suffering like the natives of Mexico and Peru?" that's the argument.
So he theorized that aliens would think about coming to Earth if they saw human nature like that. What's more, humans are unique creatures that have the potential to make their species extinct because of their own actions.
"There are indications that for the first time in Earth's history, we are headed for a mass extinction that appears as a result of the action of a single species, namely humans," he said, as quoted by the Daily Mail.
