Hooray! Instagram Returns Ordered Feeds According to Upload Time

After disappearing since 2016, Instagram brings back a chronological feed or feeds that are sequential after the time of upload. But this new feed doesn't come by default like it did six years ago.

In this new version of the feed, Instagram presents two new modes, namely 'Following' and 'Favorites'. These two modes are designed to make it easier for users to control the content they want to see when opening Instagram, as quoted from The Verge, Thursday (24/3/2022).

In Following mode, Instagram users can see the latest posts from the accounts they follow according to the order in which they were uploaded, from the newest to the oldest.

While the Favorites mode allows users to choose their 50 favorite accounts and posts from those accounts will appear in the top feed.

Just like in Following mode, the content displayed in Favorites mode is also sorted in chronological order from the most recent. Instagram spokesperson Seine Kim said the Favorites list is private, so it can only be seen by users and cannot be seen by others publicly.

Chrono Update

Today, we're launching two new chronological views for your Instagram Feed – Following and Favorites. These options give you more choice and control over what you see in the app.

It should be noted that the chronological feed on Instagram is off by default. The default view of the Instagram feed is still compiling content according to the algorithm.

To view Instagram content in the order in which it was uploaded, you can switch to the Following or Favorites mode by tapping the Instagram icon in the upper left corner and then selecting the Following or Favorites option.

The return of the chronological feed on Instagram has been anticipated since last year. Head of Instagram Adam Mosseri talked about the feature's return several times last year, and several users tried it before its release.

Instagram also uploaded a teaser on Twitter a few days ago. Now all the hardline Instagram users who have been waiting for the chronological feed for a long time can breathe a sigh of relief that their request has finally been granted.
