Happy Earth Day! Here's a list of good things you can do to protect the Earth

In order to welcome Earth Day which is commemorated on April 22, usually everyone everywhere will flock to carry out activities and real actions to protect the environment, one of which is planting trees.

This activity to protect the environment is very important to do, you know. Moreover, we often hear issues regarding the earth's aging and human activities that have a negative impact on the sustainability of the earth.

Earth has experienced climate change due to high carbon emissions in the air caused by the use of fuel and transportation. This is what makes the temperature higher and causes the polar ice to melt.

Earth is the home of living things, one of which is us, humans. We should protect and love the environment. You don't have to do big things, you can also contribute to preserving and protecting the earth by doing these small things, you know.

It's not just a celebration, but indirectly you have made an impact on this earth. Let's see what things you can do:

1. Reduce Plastic Usage

Nowadays, plastic is very widely used in everyday life. Just a small example, when we shop at the supermarket, our purchases will definitely be put in a plastic bag. In fact, plastic is a hazardous waste that is difficult to decompose, you know. Hoarding plastic waste will pollute the quality of clean water and the environment.

Although now there are several supermarkets that are eco-friendly by not providing plastic, many still forget to bring their own shopping bags. So, for that, let's get used to carrying shopping bags, reduce the use of plastic straws, and bring your own drinking bottles.

2. Throwing Trash in Its Place

The culture of throwing garbage in its place has been taught since elementary school, but often there are still people who miss it, such as leaving food marks when eating in cafes or restaurants. There are even those who throw food wrappers on the street.

Jakarta, apart from having a lot of skyscrapers, is still a frequent flood customer. This is due to the dense population who live in slums and do not have the awareness to protect the environment, one of which is throwing garbage and household waste channels carelessly.

One of the causes of flooding is due to blockages in the flow of rivers or sewers due to people littering.

3. Take Public Transportation

Just imagine if everyone simultaneously uses private vehicles to go to work and school? It is certain that there will be a lot of pollution in the air that comes from vehicle gas emissions, namely carbon monoxide (CO).

Not only does it have a bad effect on the environment, but carbon monoxide if inhaled by humans for too long will endanger health. So for that, let's start taking public transportation to reduce air pollution that can harm the earth.

4. Save Electricity Usage

Daily activities in the household must use a lot of electrical energy, starting from turning on the lights, using air conditioning, to washing clothes using a washing machine. All of these activities require a large amount of electricity. However, you can still use it just limit its use.

Here are things you can do every day, such as turning off the lights in the morning and afternoon, drying clothes in the sun, and using energy-efficient electronic devices.

5. Minimize Paper Usage

When in the office or at school, there must be tasks that must be done using paper. Paper is one of the important needs in supporting work because it is used as a means to take notes. However, considering that today's era is completely digital, there is no harm in switching to the use of soft files.

Looking at the current situation that requires you to have notes on your laptop or computer, this can also make it easier for you to access them. There is no longer such a thing as complicated looking for records. In addition to efficiency, indirectly you have also contributed to reducing the occurrence of tree cutting as paper raw materials, you know.

Are there any habits that you have adopted? Let's take care of the environment for our future together. Happy Earth Day!
