The appearance of the Google Pixel Watch leaks due to being left behind in the restaurant

Rumors about the presence of Google's first smartwatch are getting louder. Now its form has been revealed in a pretty strange way: a prototype Google Pixel Watch was found after being left behind in a restaurant.

Someone who found the prototype immediately sent the photos to Android Central. The photos of the device match the leaked renders of the Google Pixel Watch that have been circulating, including its round shape and a crown on one side.

From the photo, the crown of the watch is located between the two physical buttons. The two buttons may function to turn the clock on or off, return to the main page, or a shortcut to open an application. Meanwhile, the small hole next to the crown may be a microphone or altimeter sensor.

At the bottom of the watch is an oval health-tracking sensor in the middle. The Android Central source who provided the photo says the bottom of the watch feels smooth and looks metallic but feels like it's coated in glass.

Unfortunately, Android Central sources can't activate the clock to see the interface. When they tried to activate it, they claimed they only saw the white Google logo and after that nothing appeared, as quoted from The Verge, Monday (25/4/2022).

The figure who claimed to be the owner of the Google Pixel Watch prototype then explained his findings via Ask Me Anything (AMA) on Reddit. The account with the name u/tagtech414 said the smartwatch was found by a friend who worked as a bartender at a restaurant.

The friend kept the device for several weeks while waiting for its original owner to come pick it up. But since no one claimed it, the bartender gave the watch to u/tagtech414 for calling himself a 'tech nerd'.

The watch and the strap itself were separated because a friend forgot to give it, and could only take a photo of it to send. u/tagtech414 also explains additional details about the Google Pixel Watch, including the size of the bezel which turns out to be quite large, and the watch face is about 1.5 inches in diameter and half an inch thick.

Oddly enough, Google doesn't seem to be looking for a prototype of its missing device as u/tagtech414 claims it hasn't been contacted by Google. This could be a Google trick to get more publicity for the Pixel Watch, as it brings to mind the time when the Pixel 3 XL 'leaked' after being left in a taxi a few years ago.

Although the form of the Google Pixel Watch has been revealed, there are still many unanswered questions about this smartwatch. So far what is known is that Google will name this device the Pixel Watch, and it will likely be announced at the Google I/O event next month.
