Apple AirTag Helps Users Find Stolen Photography Gadgets

AirTags from Apple can be a simple and cost-effective way to find lost or stolen items.

The man, named Grahaam Tait, who is an Australian-based photographer, has reportedly lost his $7,000 worth of photographic equipment from his car in the parking lot of the hotel he was staying at.

"My car was broken into while we were traveling in the Flinders Ranges last night and they took my laptop case and camera, both equipped with AirTags," Tait said as quoted by 9to5mac.

AirTag is a coin item tracker that integrates with Apple's Find My app. If an item attached with an AirTag is lost, the owner can use their iPhone, iPad, or Mac to track its whereabouts.

Luckily for Tait, he has AirTags attached to some items. He then opened the Find My app and found the location of his stolen gear.

Luckily, after calling the police, all of his belongings came back including his wallet, camera, laptop and GoPro. The items were found in a room at the hotel where he was staying.

Previously, there was a lot of negative news about AirTags being used criminally from stalking to theft. Apple has made a number of recent fixes and updates such as a privacy alert for new AirTag users.

A message appears on the user's device saying that the AirTag is meant to track goods, not people, and that law enforcement may request that user information be traced to an Apple ID.

Not only that before there were also recent reports of 'ghost' AirTags, which led users to believe that an unknown AirTag was among them. However, a new firmware update provides an audible alert when a user is exposed to an unknown AirTag, making it easier to find.

As is known, users around the world can already buy Airtag products. We monitor that on the website there are AirTag packages that can be purchased, namely AirTag Leather Key Ring, AirTag Loop, AirTag Leather Loop.
