The future of Formula 1 sports has been a bit bleak over the past two years as electric cars are seen as a better alternative to the environment than fossil engine vehicles. That is why Formula E sport was started by Formula E with the aim of using it as a platform to test electric vehicle technology previously used on commercial cars.
In this uncertainty, Audi and Porsche are likely to join Formula 1 in the near future. Volkswagen group CEO Herbert Diess, which owns the Audi and Porsche brands, confirmed the inclusion of these two premium brands in Formula 1. Audi will work with McLaren while Porsche will work with Red Bull. According to Diess, participation into Formula 1 is more profitable to the company at the moment even though the cost of its participation is high.
Entry into Formula 1 is likely to take place in the 2026 season when changes are made to the engine during that season. Among those that will be done are engines that use higher electrical power, discontinue the use of the MGU-H system, and use more environmentally friendly synthetic fuels.
This engine change was done by the FIA to attract other vehicle manufacturers to participate in this exclusive and high -performance sport. With the participation of Audi and Porsche, it is clearly showing results.
