The metamesta world of Horizon Worlds can be immersed using the Meta Quest 2 VR headset. It can also be used as the Horizon Workrooms virtual office launched last year. But when announcing the company’s financial report yesterday, Mark Zuckerberg announced Meta is developing an augmented reality (AR) headset for professional use.
This headset with the code name Project Cambria will solve the issue of the headset battery which does not last long and requires a connection to a PC for higher graphics quality. With Project Cambria Zuckerberg said a headset that can replace a laptop or desktop will be launched later this year. Eye and face tracking technology will be supported so that interactions with avatars in the virtual world will be more similar to encounters in the real world.
Among other things that can be done is to combine the world of reality with virtual reality with a fully color translucent display and more immersive video calls. The previous Meta Quest headsets all put an emphasis on video games as well as affordable retail prices. Project Cambria will be the first professional headset likely to be sold at a higher price.
