Ukrainian Drone Drops Bombs, Destroys 2 Russian Tanks

A Ukrainian drone strike caught on camera is claimed to have destroyed two Russian tank targets. This again proves the effectiveness of drones in helping Ukraine fight the Russian invasion.

As quoted by us from the Daily Mail, the Ukrainian drone was reportedly operated by the Ukrainian 503rd Naval Infantry Battallion team.

In the video, which may have come from the camera on the drone, two Russian tanks can be seen being spied on. It is believed that the target was a type of Kurganets-25, one of Russia's new generation of infantry fighting vehicles.

Moments later, the bomb was dropped from a height. Not long after, the tank was seen destroyed by a bomb and flames appeared. The same incident was repeated when a second tank was targeted by a Ukrainian drone.

It is not clear where the drone strike took place, but it is believed to be in the Donbask area, where fighting between Russian and Ukrainian troops is intense.

There is also no information regarding the drone used, possibly Bayraktar TB-2. The United States has provided assistance with drones such as the Switchblade, but the drones destroy targets by crashing, not dropping bombs.

The Ukrainian drone attack that Russia did not anticipate was reported to have caused a lot of losses. It is even claimed that there have been around a thousand units of Russian tanks that have become victims in the war in Ukraine, one of which is being targeted by drones. Of course, most of it was shot by anti-tank missiles aided by western countries.

The British Defense Secretary, Ben Wallace, claims that about 15,000 Russian soldiers were killed. Then according to him, more than 2,000 Russian combat vehicles were destroyed or captured by the Ukrainian military.

"Including at least 530 tanks, 530 combat vehicles for personnel and 560 infantry fighting vehicles. Russia also lost more than 60 helicopters and fighter jets," he said.

On the other hand, there are at least two possibilities why Russia seems unable to ward off Ukrainian drone attacks and their drones are practically not widely deployed.

According to military researcher Roger McDermott, Russia has long been subject to an embargo on technology, including drones. Despite having high capabilities, Russia is seen to still need technology from other countries, including in the military field.

The second reason may be a miscalculation or strategic error from the Russian generals so that they prioritize attacks from the ground. Russia did not take advantage of high technology like their drones when they first attacked Ukraine.

"It seems that Russia's operational plans are not centered on high-tech military capabilities and the use of drones is only sporadic and limited," he said.

Russia actually has drone deterrence technology, such as electronic warfare systems (EWS) to emit radio frequency energy that can confuse drone movements. Then spread fake GPS signals to disorient drone pilots.

However, it was reported that Russian drone deterrence technology was less effective when tested in Syria and Armenia, especially against Bayraktar TB2.
