Microsoft Raises Xbox Prices Due to RAM Crisis

Microsoft announced early this morning that the selling prices of the Xbox Series X and Series S consoles will be increased starting August 2026. Like Sony and Nintendo who have done the same step before, Microsoft has had to raise the prices of the consoles due to the worsening RAM crisis.

The price of the Xbox Series S with storage now starts at $500 with 512GB of storage. An increase of $100. Meanwhile, the price of the Xbox Series X starts at $750 with 1TB of storage, an increase of $50. Xbox CEO Asha Sharma has already said that the price of RAM has increased several times in the past year, making the business no longer sustainable.

Since the memo to employees was distributed three weeks ago, Xbox is now in the process of closing several studios under them such as Ninja Theory and Double Fine. Company representatives are reportedly considering allowing the studios to move independently through a buyout.
