Hyundai started their driverless RoboRide self -driving taxi service in Gangnam, South Korea last weekend. Each Hyundai Ionic 5 vehicle has level 4 self -driving capability to take passengers to their chosen destination safely.
In the early stages RoboRide can only be used by Hyundai staff only in advance with it being called through the i.M. app. The self -driving system used was self -developed by Hyundai with RoboRide as a test platform before the same system was offered commercially to their production vehicles.
RoboRide is only offered in Gangnam district at this time as it is the only district in Seoul that has a system allowing traffic lights in connection with self-driving vehicles. The same system has been tested in Gangam by Hyundai since 2019 again.
