iPhone Threatened Using USB Type C

Countries and EU lawmakers will agree on a common charging port for phones, tablets and headphones on June 7. This makes the iPhone threatened with using a USB Type C port.

The proposal for a single phone charging port was first floated by the European Commission more than a decade ago after iPhone and Android users complained about having to use different chargers for their phones.

In response, Apple criticized the move, arguing that forcing companies to use USB-C hinders innovation. In addition, Apple believes that switching users from Lightning cables to USB-C is dangerous and will create a 'mountain of e-waste'.

But it looks like countries and EU lawmakers could reach a common conclusion next week to make USB-C the official charging standard.

If the new law is passed, it will ensure that all phones, computers and headsets sold in Europe have a USB-C charging port. This change, according to the European Commission, helps reduce e-waste and makes people's lives easier.

"The meeting starts on Tuesday, June 7. This will be the second and possibly the last meeting between EU countries and MPs on this issue, a sign of the push to forcibly conclude a deal that benefits the people." said a Reuters source.

Currently, all iPhone models use Lightning ports, while some iPads and Mac computers have switched to USB-C ports. Despite considering this an international standard, it appears that Apple itself is under pressure from EU legislation. Rumors circulated that the iPhone 2023 would replace the Lightning port with USB-C.
