Sega Mega Drive Mini 2 was announced in Japan last night as an update to Mega Drive Mni which was launched in 2018 in conjunction with its 30th anniversary. Mega Drive Mini 2 brings support to Sega CD games that were not previously available on Mega Drive Mini.
There are 50 games included including Sonic CD, Shining Force CD, Thunder Force 4, and Virtua Racing. Although there is support for Sega CD games this time, Mega Drive Mini 2 does not come with a solid disk drive. On the other hand, a mini replica accessory that is just a joke is sold if the buyer wants to get a set like the original Sega CD.
Sega Mega Drive Mini 2 will go on sale in Japan starting next October 27 in Japan. There are plans to offer it to other markets after that. The selling price of the console is 9,980 (~RM335) and the Sega CD mini accessory is also on sale for 4,500 (~RM15).
