Spanish Company To Be First To Use Giant Airlander 10

The giant Airlander 10 aircraft by Hybrid Air Vehicles (HAV) is trying to resume the use of aircraft as a mass transportation system that came to a standstill after the Hindenburg tragedy. Since being shown in 2016, the Airlander has managed to do several test flights and also crashed once after a leak. However, Air Nostrum Group has ordered 10 aircraft that will be used to carry passengers in Spain.

The Air Nostrum will receive its first aircraft by 2026. The cabin can accommodate 72-100 passengers depending on the configuration chosen. Currently the Airlander 10 still uses four fossil fuel engines but HAV has plans to replace it with an electric hybrid engine that gives an operating range of up to 750 km by 2025. Then by 2030 the fully electric engine will be used.

Measuring 92 meters long, 43.5 meters wide and 26 meters high, it overtook the An 225 which is only 84 meters long, 88.5 meters wide and 18.1 meters high as the largest aircraft in the world still in operation.
