The Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) 2022 event opened with the announcement of iOS 16. Many changes and new features introduced by Apple, what are they?
New Lock Screen
Apple has introduced a new lock screen. Interestingly, users can customize the elements in it, ranging from fonts to placing widgets.
"This is the biggest update ever to the lock screen, re -imagining how it works," said Craig Federighi, Senior Vice President of Software Engineering at Apple.
Users can use the lock screen from the wallpaper collection. In order not to cover the lock screen, Apple moved the notification at the bottom.
There are also Live Activites that combine notifications and widgets to provide users with the latest information. This helps users stay informed of things that are happening in real time, such as football game scores, ride sharing status or messages between meals.
Not to mention Focus Mode can now be easily accessed from the lock screen, users can even customize wallpapers and widgets according to selected options.
Messages
Apple now provides edit options so users can correct typo messages. In addition, Undo Send is provided which allows users to cancel sending messages.
Users can now view applications that support SharePlay on FaceTime. Apple provides a SharePlay button in Messages, so users can type messages while watching.
Dictation
Apple improved the capabilities of the Dictation feature that allows users to move smoothly between voice and touch. The keyboard stays open as you dictate, so users can type easily at any time.
Apple also provides Live Text on videos. Users can pause the video in a frame and then highlight the text. Then the highlighted text can be copied or converted to currency, translated text, and more.
No less interesting is the Visual Look Up that allows users to tap and hold the subject of the image to move it from the background and place it in applications such as Messages. Visual Look Up is also expanded to recognize birds, insects, and sculptures.
Pay Later
For the people in Indonesia, paylater is no longer a foreign thing. Many financial services provide such facilities.
Apple provides similar services to its payment features. With Apple Pay Later, users can buy first and pay later after four to six weeks after the transaction.
Well, the cool thing is that Apple does not charge for those who use this service.
Share Photos Together in iCloud
iCloud Shared Photo Library gives families a new way to share photos seamlessly with a separate iCloud library that up to six users can collaborate on, contribute to, and enjoy.
Users can choose to share existing photos from their personal library, or share by start date or the people in the photo. Users can also choose to send photos to Shared Library automatically using the new switch in the Camera app.
Users can now schedule emails and are even given time to cancel sending messages before they reach the recipient's inbox. Mail detects if a user forgot to include an important part of their message, such as an attachment.
Users also have the option to re -emerge the message at any time with Remind Later, and Follow Up automatically reminds users to follow up on the email if they have not received a response.
Mail also includes the biggest overhauls to search, and uses sophisticated techniques to provide more relevant, accurate, and complete results. Users see recent emails, contacts, documents, and links when they start searching for email.
Other features
Safari adds Tab Groups to share a collection of websites with friends and family, so adding tabs and seeing what others see is seamless.
Game Center features a redesigned dashboard that shows friends' activities and achievements from the game in one place, making it easier for players to play or compete with their friends.
Personalized Spatial Audio allows for a more precise and immersive listening experience.
A new privacy tool called Safety Check can help users whose personal safety is at risk from domestic or spouse violence by immediately removing all access they have given to others.
