TNB To Build Iconic Tower With "Buah Pinang" Design Parallel Penang Bridge For Electricity Supply

In an effort to further strengthen electricity supply in Penang, Tenaga Nasional has now announced that they will plan another direct connection of electricity supply from the National Grid to Penang.

Interestingly, for this project, the supply will be connected through an 8.5km long tower project built parallel to the Penang bridge.

This project is developed to ensure that the existing supply capacity in Pulau Pinnang is not affected - especially when the Gelugor power station with a generating capacity of 300W expires its service contract at the end of 2024.

TNB is targeting the project to cost more than RM500 million, and is expected to be completed in 2024. The construction of this iconic tower is also expected to be one of the state's iconic landmarks.

This transmission line tower is designed with a betel nut concept. The construction work is expected to begin at the end of 2022.
