Rockets or long -range missiles from the United States, began to be sent to Ukraine. These new weapons have the potential to make the war with Russia even more devastating.
The US has agreed to send a long -range rocket system and more precise ammunition to Ukraine. The weapons sent were MLRS type M142 Himars (High Mobility Artillery Rocket System). The version sent to Ukraine can shoot as far as 80 kilometers.
Russia itself protested. "We believe that the United States deliberately poured oil on the fire. The arms shipments did not contribute to the will of the Ukrainian leader to continue the peace talks," Russia said.
Ukraine wants new weapons as the war intensifies in the Donbas region. With the battlefield in a more rural area, the war could be determined by who had the long -range weapon system.
"Himars provide massive weapon upgrades. The impact is the same as armament using fighter jets," Rita Konaev, an academic from Georgetown University, quoted us from Vox.
Russia also has an MLRS system, but American technology is said to be able to reach farther and more accurate targets. But now, as the war begins closer to Russian territory, their power is more centralized.
No wonder Ukraine wants long -range missiles. They may already know what targets need to be shot, but can't do so with current weapons due to limited range.
"In the Donbas, the war is going on at a great distance. If you know where the target is, you have to be able to reach it as well," said John Spencer, an analyst at the Madison Policy Forum.
