Apple Reportedly Orders 90 Million iPhone 14 From Manufacturers Despite Market Forecast To Shrink

The smartphone market has been shrinking for the past two quarters with sales in China for example shrinking by more than double digits due to the handling of Covid-19 and the economic recession. Although the economy is predicted to continue to be troubled for the next few quarters, Apple seems confident that it will not affect iPhone sales.

According to a Bloomberg report, Apple ordered 90 million iPhone 14s from Foxconn. This is the same number of orders as the iPhone 13 years ago. Throughout 2022, Apple aims to produce 220 million iPhones.

This year is interesting because the iPhone 14 will use the A15 Bionic chip which is already a year old. Only the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max will be equipped with the more powerful A16 Bionic chip. The changes between this year's model and last year's are in the form of an improved camera system, better battery, new design and software only.
