Both are good at night portraits, this is the difference between the Oppo Reno8 Duo

Oppo Reno8 5G and Reno8 Pro 5G will be present bringing night portrait and low-light video as their superior features. But what's the difference between the two?

In the Reno8 1st Impression Design and Night Portrait Feature event, Oppo did not reveal the camera specifications of each variant of the Reno8 series. But he gave a little sneak peek about his flagship camera features.

One main feature that distinguishes the Reno8 5G and Reno8 Pro 5G is of course the presence of the MariSiliconX chip. This is a special neural processing unit (NPU) chip for imaging created by Oppo to improve the quality of photos and videos in low light conditions.

MariSilicon X can reduce noise in 4K 30 fps video and also increase power efficiency by 11.16 times compared to Reno7 Pro 5G devices. The processing is done in real time and in a lossless form in RAW format.

The Reno8 5G and Reno8 Pro 5G actually have the same three flagship camera features, namely Ultra Night Video, Ultra HDR Video, and Night Portrait. The difference is, Reno8 Pro 5G supports Ultra Night Video and Ultra HDR Video features up to 4K quality.

The features must be Ultra Night Video, but in 4K we collaborate with MariSilicon X with a system-on-a-chip (SoC) to produce ultra-clear 4K video on the Oppo Reno8 Pro 5G rear camera.

"In 4K Ultra Clear mode, image clarity is four times higher than 1080p video and there is an HDR fusion algorithm and AI noise reduction that helps increase the dynamic range or dynamic range of night videos recorded by the Reno8 Pro 5G by 42.9%," he continued.

Even though it doesn't get 4K support, the Ultra Night Video feature on the Reno8 5G still brings its own advantages. This feature is available for both the front and rear cameras on the Reno8 5G and is on by default.

Meanwhile, the Ultra HDR Video feature is designed to balance videos captured in uneven lighting conditions, such as too dark or too bright.

Lastly, Night Portrait is a feature to take clearer portrait photos at night. Both in Reno8 5G and Reno8 Pro 5G, this feature both relies on Turbo RAW technology.

The technology is the same as using Turbo RAW where we can perform noise reduction on each part of the red, green, or blue color in parallel in the domain.
