Google Has Run Out Of Ways To Persuade Apple To Adopt This Feature

Google seems to have run out of ways to persuade Apple to adopt rich text format (RCS) as its messaging standard, replacing outdated SMS and MMS.

It is called running out of ways because previously Google only issued sarcastic messages to Apple, sometimes with hidden meanings, so that they would adopt RCS. The same goes for Google and Android office tweets on its social media.

But because Apple was stupid and didn't understand the sarcasm, Google finally openly launched a "Get The Message" campaign aimed only at Apple, through a page on the Android site.

"It's time for Apple to fix messaging," Google wrote big at the top of the site.

What Google means is Apple's exclusivity in messaging standards. In addition to supporting the old-fashioned SMS, Apple does have iMessage, which can be used to communicate between other Apple device users.

iMessage is integrated in the Messages application, which is automatically activated when used to send messages to Apple-made devices, and will switch back to SMS when used to send messages to Android.

That's why Google invited Apple to implement the RCS standard in Messages, so that iPhone users can communicate with Android users with RCS that uses an internet connection, not a mobile phone, and the quality is much better than SMS.

"This is not a matter of the color of the bubble (the distinctive feature of iMessage is the blue bubble on the message). It is a matter of blurry videos, broken group conversations, missing proof of delivery and typing indicators, not being able to send messages via WiFi, and so on," write Google on the site.

"This all happened because Apple refused to adopt modern messaging standards for iPhone and Android users who send messages to each other," he added.
