Google Sues Sonos For Alleged Infringement Of Their Own Patents

Google and Sonos are battling it out in court. Sonos previously successfully sued Google for allegedly using their proprietary audio system technology without permission. Google complied with the court order and removed some features on their Google Nest smart speakers whose patents are held by Sonos.

Yesterday Google also filed a lawsuit against Sonos for allegedly using their virtual assistant system technology. A total of seven Google patents are allegedly being used by Sonos without permission. This involves a keyword detection feature on given voice commands.

Google also wants to ban Sonos products from being imported into the United States through the United States International Trade Commission. In a statement given to the media, Sono said this was Google's tactic to intimidate smaller rival companies.
