Grab, Foodpanda and Deliveroo, three companies involved in food delivery services in Singapore, have now formed a new alliance, called the Digital Platforms Industry Association.
Through this union, they say they want to help shape and form guidelines that protect the health and safety of delivery service workers in Singapore.
As many are aware, various governments around the world are looking at regulating the gig worker industry, as well as protecting the welfare of workers under the platform - who are often not recognized as workers, and do not have the same number of protections as full-time workers.
With this initial step, this alliance may intend to be able to take an early step before regulation is implemented, in addition to influencing the government when it comes to gig workers. The alliance also aims to collaborate with industry as well as government in the coming months.
