Instagram Will Support 9:16 Photos In A Few Weeks

Instagram will become like TikTok and there is nothing users can do to prevent this from happening. To compete with TikTok the app that used to focus on image content will focus on full screen videos. After listening to user feedback lately, Adam Mosseri confirmed that support for taking pictures at a vertical ratio of 9:16 on Instagram will be available in a week or two.

So far this vertical ratio has only been well supported on Stories. With Instagram looking to make TikTok-like displays the new norm for all users, this vertical picture support is officially on the way. Previously 9:16 picture support was tested by a small number of users last May.

This change will certainly receive more resistance. But just as pictures are no longer just square and video support was given a few years ago, users will eventually accept the change because at this time there is no other alternative platform as good as Instagram.
