OpenSignal has now released the latest data and reports related to 5G networks. Through it, it shows that Kuala Lumpur has one of the best 5G network speeds in the world.
According to the data, Kuala Lumpur recorded the second highest position in terms of download rate, only behind South Korea with an average download rate of around 376.6Mbps under the 5G network.
And interestingly, Kuala Lumpur ranks first in the world in terms of 5G upload rate, with a speed of 52.8Mbps, at the same time surpassing various other cities in the world.
However, OpenSignal also reminded that for now the 5G network in Kuala Lumpur is only offered by Yes which has a low number of users compared to other telecommunication companies, and not as many as in other countries.
In terms of 5G service availability, in Kuala Lumpur it is only seen at a rate of around 10.9% compared to South Korea which reached 43.4%. Shows the coverage is still low and not comprehensive yet.
For now, the government is targeting various telecommunications companies to start offering 5G networks as early as September. Maybe we can witness the development of this OpenSignal data after that, and hope that Malaysia stays at the top.
