Cryptocurrency owners seem to be increasingly wary of their digital currency investments due to the many incidents of hackers stealing cryptocurrencies from crypto wallets.
Recently, Solana, one of the leading blockchain platforms has confirmed that their blockchain system has been hacked, and this resulted in 7767 of their cryptocurrency wallets being drained by hackers.
Solana is seen working with a number of digital forensics experts to identify how the hack occurred, and it appears that those using the Slope and Phantom crypto wallets have been severely affected by the hack.
Further investigation into the issue has found that the crypto wallet addresses were created, imported or used with the Slope application, making it one of the attack vectors of these hackers.
So far, it has been reported that Solana blockchain users have lost $4.5 million worth of SOL cryptocurrency. How this hack happened has yet to be confirmed, but as reported, Solana is working to get answers for their customers.
Solana also confirmed that this hack issue affects the Slope and Phantom wallet apps, and that those using physical crypto wallets are not affected by this hack. However, Solana says that users should change their recovery phrase for these physical wallets as a precaution.
