Steam And Yahoo Can Now Be Accessed Again In Indonesia

Access to some online services has been blocked in Indonesia after the owner company failed to register for the Private Scope Electronic System Operator (PSE) permit required to operate. Among the worst affected are the platforms Steam, Origin, PayPal, and Epic Games.

The Indonesian Ministry of Communications and Informatics (Kominfo) today raised the status that access to Steam and Yahoo is now restored after both companies agreed to apply for operating permits. Access to Origin and Epic Games however is still blocked at the time of writing. Access to PayPal is temporarily open for five days to allow users to withdraw funds.

Yesterday Cominfo Director General Semuel Abrijani Pangerapan apologized to gamers for blocking Steam. According to him, steps need to be taken to meet the requirements of national law.
