VLC Media Player Banned In India

Tech companies have a lot of problems in India. For example, this year alone dozens of applications were banned there including the first such as Free Fire. Recently the popular media player VLC Media Player has been banned in India.

According to reports, only the Windows version is banned because it can still be accessed in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. But reports state that if using a VPN it can still be accessed without any problems.

This media player application has been banned due to alleged involvement in hacking activities by the China-based Cicada group. This hacking team is said to be using VLC to distribute malware. The Indian government believes that this hacking team may be supported by the Chinese government.

VLC is currently listed as one of the banned applications in India due to its links to China.
