Rolex Produces Watches That Can Dive Up To 11,000 Meters

The Apple Watch Ultra smart watch can be taken diving up to 40 meters. But the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Deepsea Challenge watch that was launched yesterday now holds the world record for being able to dive to a depth of 11,000 meters. This allows it to be brought to the surface of the Mariana Trench with a depth of 11,034 meters.

To ensure durability, the watch has a body made of titanium. For the first time in history, Rolex used this exotic metal as a watch body. Sapphire glass after 9.5mm is used on the face of the watch to allow it to withstand high pressure. The body of the watch is 50mm with a maximum thickness of 23mm. Therefore, it can actually be taken to dive up to 15,000 meters if necessary.

This watch was produced after taking data from the prototype watch that James Cameron took to a depth of 10,908 meters in 2012 to set a world record in the Mariana Trench. The Rolex Oyster Perpetual Deepsea Challenge sells for $26,000 (~RM124,000) each.
