Welcome to the era of Elon Musk's Twitter which has so far been like the end of the movie Titanic. Shortly after taking over Twitter, firing top management and throwing out the middle half of the job Musk said Twitter Verified's identity tracking feature would be available to anyone who reads $8 for Twitter Blue.
In order to teach Musk that this was a very unwise move, several accounts with blue smears changed their names to Elon Musk and posted comedic tweets insulting him. Earlier this morning Musk sent out a series of tweets that now say accounts that impersonate other people without saying they are parody accounts will be suspended forever immediately.
Musk also said that after this, users with blue Verified will also lose verification for a while if their name is changed. Previously users who received confirmation were only not allowed to change the account name.
