Xpeng wants to produce a real flying car where a four-wheeled car can fly vertically. The majority of flying cars that have been shown so far are just vehicles with propeller systems without wheels for them to move on the road surface. They have now shown the first flying car design Xpeng AeroHT X3 and also successfully conducted the first pilot test.
Xpeng AeroHT X3 is a car with four wheels and four doors. On the roof there is a fan system that when opened has eight electric motors and eight pairs of fans. The propeller system will provide vertical thrust for the X3 to fly when needed.
In the first test the X3 prototype flew up to a height of 10 meters, floated for 30 seconds, performed a turn before returning to land. Because this is just a test, the fan system used is of the permanent type without a folding mechanism.
A few weeks ago the Xpeng AeroHT X2 successfully performed its first flight test in Dubai. This flying taxi has room for two passengers and it aims to be operational as early as 2024.
