A few weeks ago it was reported that Apple was developing its own WiFi and Bluetooth chips to reduce dependence on suppliers such as Broadcom. Today leading analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said the development of this chip has been delayed by Apple.
This is to focus on their latest 3nm chip development. In addition, the development of standalone chips is more challenging than originally expected, so it is now not given the main focus. This news benefits Broadcom, which supplies the WiFi and Bluetooth chips that Apple now uses.
This is not the first time that Apple's efforts to become more independent have met with bitter challenges. Their 5G modem development also suffered from various issues because it failed to compete with the modems produced by Qualcomm.
