Apple is preparing for its first Apple Store presence in Malaysia. The iPhone manufacturer has opened a recruitment drive to fill its retail stores.
According to a report by Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, Apple has just opened a job vacancy on its website for an Apple Store in Malaysia. Positions available include store managers, technical and support specialists, salespeople for businesses, and operations specialists.
The job vacancies indicate that positions are available for Apple's own retail stores, not third-party stores that have long been operating in Malaysia, as quoted by Bloomberg, Wednesday (25/1/2023).
Apple's job vacancy website does not indicate in which city Malaysia's first Apple Store will open. But chances are they will start in Malaysia's capital, Kuala Lumpur.
The opening of the first Apple Store in Malaysia will further strengthen Apple's position in Southeast Asia. They previously had an online store in Malaysia.
Previously, the company created by Steve Jobs already had several stores in Singapore and Thailand. Apple also recently opened a job vacancy for its first store in India, which it had been planning for years.
Apple does not disclose its product sales reports for each country. But in its most recent fiscal year, Apple earned $29 billion from the Asia Pacific segment, excluding China and Japan.
Apple first opened its retail stores nearly 22 years ago, and now has 500 stores worldwide, most of which are in the United States. They made their last international expansion in 2018 when they opened an Apple Store in Bangkok.
