The Facebook Messenger application was updated this week with an end-to-end encryption feature. In makes it another Meta app after WhatsApp to receive this security feature. In addition to more secure messaging, Messenger also introduces themes in chat with the option given to users to choose colors.
Another customization is putting nicknames, emojis, chat themes and even pictures for the group. The preview for the link included in the chat is also included once so that the user knows whether it is safe or not to click.
The active status display is also displayed so that other users know the person they want to contact is using the application or not. On Android the Bubbles feature is included once in a new update.
End-to-end encrypted chat provisioning will be rolled out to all users in the coming months.
