After shedding 12,000 employees last week, Google is now facing a lawsuit that will be filed by the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) for allegedly dominating the country's advertising market, according to Bloomberg. Among the offenses that Google is accused of doing is abusing their position to avoid competition in the market.
If filed this week it would be the fifth time Google has been sued over their advertising business practices. Advertising in the United States is worth $278.6 billion a year and globally it is $626.86 billion a year with Google having the largest share.
Google has denied these charges and said their offering is competitive with the likes of Meta, Amazon and Microsoft. In France they agreed to pay a €220 Billion fine because the Google Ad Manager advertising system they used to bid for slots was found to give Google AdX an advantage over competitors.
