Instagram Releases Quiet Mode Feature, Users Not Disturbed Notifications

Instagram released a series of new features to give users more control. One of them is the Quiet Mode feature which can mute notifications when the user wants to take a break or doesn't want to be disturbed.

By activating the Quiet Mode feature, users will not receive push notifications until they turn off the feature. The activity status in the user's profile will also be changed to 'In quiet mode' to notify other users.

If a friend or other user sends a DM while Quiet Mode is enabled, they will receive an automatic reply saying the user is currently in quiet mode.

As soon as Quiet Mode is turned off, the user will receive a summary of incoming notifications that may have been missed. Just like Quiet Mode on Facebook, users can set a schedule to turn Quiet Mode on and off automatically.

This feature can be used by anyone, but Instagram will ask teenage users to activate this feature when they are still playing Instagram at night. Currently the new Quiet Mode feature is available in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand and will be released in more countries.

Quiet Mode is a new feature released by Instagram to help users control their screen time. Previously they released a feature that shows the time users spend on Instagram and a reminder feature to take breaks.

Apart from the Quiet Mode feature, Instagram has also released several features to help users control the content they see. Users can now hide some content at the same time in the Explore tab which is considered unattractive.

Instagram will also try not to display content that has been marked as unattractive elsewhere, such as Reels, Search, and others, as quoted from The Verge, Friday (20/1/2023).

Apart from that, users can also add words, hashtags, or emojis that they want to avoid. Instagram will try not to recommend content with captions that contain those words or hashtags.
