Instagram or also known as IG was originally created as a photo sharing application. Day after day, year after year, updates have made Instagram incorporate video sharing and make it more like TikTok. For those who often use it must have noticed that the focus of this application is beginning to shift towards video.

This was also acknowledged by Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri through one of the Stories updates on his Instagram profile. Aware of the fact that many users are quite disappointed with this change, he stressed that photo sharing will always be an important part of Instagram's focus.
He also admitted that this platform focused too much on video content last year. However, it will be balanced again with the amount of photos and videos that should be displayed to the user. This includes taking into account how often users like and comment on a photo versus a video, while suggesting content that matches their interests.

Citing the same statement, Mosseri also said that video content will still be the focus and needs to be improved over time because it has driven more overall user engagement. But Mosseri reiterated that Instagram will never remove photo content from its app.

In other developments, Mosseri also shared about the increasing number of spam and bot accounts on Instagram. This has caused concern among users, but Instagram will do its best to reduce it and ensure that data privacy is always protected.
