Along with the MacBook Pro 2023, Apple also launched the Mac Mini, which has powerful specifications but is priced cheap.
"With extraordinary capabilities and a variety of connectivity in a compact design, Mac mini is used in many places, in many ways. Today, we are excited to go further with the M2 and M2 Pro," said Greg Joswiak, senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing apples.
"Bringing more performance and a lower initial price, the Mac mini with M2 is a great value. And for users who need powerful professional performance, the Mac mini with M2 Pro is like no other desktop in its class."
Mac Mini M2 Specifications
Mac Mini 2023 has the same appearance as its predecessor. But Apple supports it with the M2 and M2 Pro.
Compared to previous generations of Mac mini, the M2 and M2 Pro feature faster next-generation CPUs and GPUs, significantly higher memory bandwidth, and a more powerful media engine. All of that delivers fast performance but remains efficient.
Mac Mini with M2 has an 8-core CPU consisting of 4 high-performance cores and 4 high-efficiency cores, side by side with a 10-core GPU. As a result, this device is suitable for users who need a device for productivity.
With up to 24GB of integrated memory and 100GB/s bandwidth, activities like image editing in Adobe Photoshop are up to 50 percent faster than previous generations. The M2 also adds ProRes acceleration to the Mac mini, so tasks like video editing in Final Cut Pro are twice as fast.
The Mac Mini M2 is up to 5x faster than the top-selling Windows desktop, the company says. The device can play up to two 8K ProRes 422 video streams simultaneously at 30 fps, or up to 12 4K ProRes 422 video streams at 30 fps.
Mac Mini M2 Pro Specifications
For the first time, Apple has brought the Mac Mini to the Pro level. The M2 Pro chip has up to 12-core CPUs with eight high-performance cores and four high-efficiency cores.
Together with a GPU of up to 19-cores, the M2 Pro has a memory bandwidth of 200GB/s - double the amount in the M2 - and supports up to 32GB of memory. The Neural Engine is 40 percent faster than the M1, speeding up ML tasks like video analysis and image processing.
Designed to dramatically speed up video playback and encoding on very little power, the M2 Pro offers a powerful media engine, which accelerates the most popular video codecs and can simultaneously play up to five streams of 8K ProRes 422 video at 30 fps, or up to 23 video streams. 4K ProRes 422 at 30 fps. Supported models The M2 Pro is up to 14x faster than the fastest Intel-based Mac mini.
The Mac Mini M2 device features two Thunderbolt 4 ports and supports up to two displays. The M2 Pro model includes four Thunderbolt 4 ports and supports up to three displays. The M2 Pro model only supports one 8K display, a first for Mac.
Both models have two USB-A ports, an HDMI port, a Gigabit Ethernet port with a 10GB option, and an upgraded headphone jack to support high-impedance headphones. Both support Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.3.
Apple embedded 8GB (M2) or 16GB (M2 Pro) integrated memory, which can be configured up to 24GB with M2 or 32GB with M2 Pro. Meanwhile, internal storage can be configured up to 2TB with M2 or up to 8TB with M2 Pro
