Microsoft will 'inject' ChatGPT into Bing to compete with Google

The increasingly popular ChatGPT is said to replace Google's role. Microsoft also wants to use ChatGPT to make the Bing search engine even better so it can beat Google.

The Information reports that Microsoft plans to integrate the technology behind ChatGPT into Bing. Microsoft hopes to roll out this new feature before the end of March to make Bing more competitive.

It is not yet known what kind of changes Bing will bring after integration with GPT. The Information says this integration will help Bing provide friendlier search results.

Sources familiar with Bing's systems say Microsoft could use the technology to present search results as full-sentence answers with the source information. If Bing suggests queries related to the original, GPT can also better describe their relevance.

This technology can also help Bing compete with Google's Knowledge Graph feature. The Knowledge Graph is a knowledge database that Google uses to provide instant, regularly updated answers from user feedback and web crawling.

ChatGPT itself is a chatbot that relies on the GPT 3.5 language model that uses deep learning to produce answers in natural-sounding text form. This technology was developed by the artificial intelligence company OpenAI which was founded by Elon Musk.

Microsoft and OpenAI have a very close relationship. In 2019, Microsoft injected USD 1 billion into OpenAI. As part of the agreement, Microsoft reportedly has exclusive rights to use the GPT-3 text generator, as quoted from The Verge, Thursday (5/1/2023).

In addition to GPT, Microsoft is also planning to integrate OpenAI's DALL-E 2 image generator into Bing. The two companies are also partnering to develop artificial intelligence technology for supercomputing in the Microsoft Azure service.

ChatGPT itself began to be widely used towards the end of last year after it became publicly available. Internet users use ChatGPT for a variety of functions, from answering questions to helping with schoolwork.
